Table of Contents 

Below is a description of each section.  Activities in each section progress from easy (concrete) to more difficult (abstract).  The number of pages each section contains are in parenthesis.  All activities are in large font, with clear, easy to read and understand directions.

01/

Thought Organization (80+ Pages)

This section targets thought processing, organizing information, sequencing, and divergent/convergent thinking skills for both abstract and concrete information.  Some of the activities included in this section are sequencing steps, listing concrete/abstract items, sorting and labeling concrete/abstract category items, filling in missing letters, coming up with specific in category words with designated letter, and unscrambling words and sentences.

Concepts of Time (30+ Pages)

This section focuses on reading and identifying times on a clock, figuring and reasoning out elapsed time, determining time for everyday scenarios, and identifying and organizing information on calendars.

03/

Functional Activities for Cognition (40+ Pages)

This section contains everyday activities adults do on a daily basis.  This includes understanding weather reports, grocery ads, product labels, understanding and using prescriptions and medication charts, identifying medication errors, reading and understanding menus and recipes, and the use of cell phones, phone books, and the internet.

Reasoning (40+ Pages)

This section works on simple and abstract reasoning skills utilizing information tables, television and movie guides, reasoning and word finding, part whole associations, creating shopping lists from given scenarios, time line sequencing,  logical solutions, following simple and  complex directions with related, unrelated and multiple information, reading and understanding product instructions,  and planning for everyday situations.

Problem Solving (20+ Pages)

This section addresses the patient’s ability to identify errors and incorrect solutions in everyday activities, solve medical, home, and community problems, and provide reasons and solutions for problems encountered on a daily basis.

Money and Finance (5o+ Pages)

This section covers a large variety of functional concrete and abstract money and finance concepts including identifying and counting money, adding up and figuring change, combining money, determining if you have enough money to make purchases, writing, balancing, identifying errors, and understanding checks, functional money story problems, calculating expenses, household finances, and business related money and finance management.

Memory (15+ Pages)

This section contains orientation questions, recalling specific information, word descriptions, remote memory practice, and phone messages for immediate memory.
